Aspirations

Aspirations

I wish that I could write like you but I can't,
not good enough, my friend William said: 'Don't
despair - you won something didn't you? So there
you are - you're good - don't set your sights too high.'

All right for him with his expertise, some people
don't have to try - pass exams at the last minute,
I have to dig from meagre experiences, you see -
don't understand words, can only try and sigh.

I switch from cascading waterfalls to wandering
lonely as a cloud, then can't finish, shout out loud,
my kingdom, my kingdom for a very clever pen,
I left the poetry club, don't think I'm going again.

William said not everything is as it may appear,
no problem for him with a name like Shakespeare.

Awesome - short & sweet!
The ending is the best part.

William said not everything is as it may appear,
no problem for him with a name like Shakespeare.
