Don't Block Out The Light

Don't Block Out The Light

Tell me what you mean, don't substitute stars
for letters, be gracious, no transparency jars;
I can guess, maybe, although might be second,
before you go, disappear to the back of beyond.

We were friends once or perhaps it was twiice,
sharing recollections of old times would be nice;
perhaps a beer, you could tell me where you're near,
at a zenith, remember once when you had no fear.

Remember you could play when the children came,
it didn't matter whether we were in the sun or rain;
then you became 'hard done by,' everything wrong,
I couldn't hear you anymore humming a good song.

No matter, I forgive you, I like to see your smile,
don't block out the light - let's just laugh a while.
