Aurora Rising

Aurora Rising

Life's not only empty for its impermanence
But because of its need to be expressed
Still I seek a love beyond mortal optimism
And the fields of mourning
For whom the pangs of infatuation
Intern thereafter the tears of death

We don't belong, yet here we have to be
Until heaven and earth meet to merge
With no firmament between
Let us not forget, that time is distance
And this pendulum an oar
To accommodate my spirit
As my vessel waits upon the shore
Until colours coalesce in Mnemosyne's kiss
And we evade the shadows of Lethe
But was it by choice or error
Because it feels like sin to breathe
As sin is death, but death in turn
Gives another chance
For what has kept us apart
Has come to bring us back
And though the stones may still be standing
So too are you and I
For what will be already is
Real as it is imagined

Between the sun and moon, a crepuscule
The alternative that is the otherworld
The Antichthon for the unlived
That place never found in time
Or ever free upon the earth
The field we never ran through
That tree for us to rest
Although rituals and rites are trivial
When indelibly we dwell apart
Knowing this odyssey is a test

Ascend with me beyond the sun
Where all that is still has risen
And need not fall nor ever set in stone
That name of which the hands of time have clung
And instead of spending my youth, I saved it
Inside a vault inside an impermeable chamber
Where I poured out the bowls and opened the seals
Though the world would not part
For you to find your way to me

How can one be crowned without a star
Or a dove descend before the serpent's found its end
But nigh is my chariot to your palace
Where we dance in the blood of Urith
Unmasking depths of Iris's amor
As the seed eventually flowers, and we capture
The pulchritudinous refrains of Lucifer
Where all that is still has risen
To remain forevermore

And palpable are the planets crashing
As blood shudders through Theia and Synestia
Of aeons in emanation, my theophany
Cascading in every beat
Parallel as we stand to bridge the liminal
On stones of antimony
And foundations of sapphire
Possessing every revelation
Telepathic vision and dream
The epiclesis in your orbs and aura
Overwhelming as the tangible intensifies
And we conflate in flesh and spirit
Where all that is still has risen
And never again shall die

Being Me

Ian, this is a stunning poem! Lots and lots of references to the ancient Greek gods and of love ... of need and of want. If life can be described as a rug (bear with) it would be pale green and a few pinks and sky blues, and made from something like silk. Your poem would be a richly woven tapestry of a rug ... reds and royal blues and purples and golds. This is the only way I can describe your awesome poem, because I'm not clever with words like you clearly are.

I wonder if there is another Earth on the opposite side of the universe?

I love Your poem it a treat to read xx

I cannot put in words how much I like this poem, Ian.
It dances on the page,
dances a magnificent waltz.  B

Thank you so much Bernadete. I truly appreciate your kind words, and thank you for pushing me to write again when I had decided not to write,  especially romance poems.

Nine Eleven

Magnificent poetry here, a treat to read aloud, like a piece of ancient scroll written by an ancient spirt.
