Autumn

Autumn

Demeter, thou sorrows stain
Leaves tinted by thy pain
Child of spring seized afar
O’ absence wound and mar

Woe tis seasons amend.
Autumn ardent to ascend.
Heart bleeds to shade
All beauty Persephone made.

Flora withers with sorrow
Nary be beauteous tomorrow.
Winter comes to cloak abound.
Till beloved alas tis found

Joy at long last arise
Praise winter’s demise
Daughter, with heart of gold
Awakens spring to unfold
