Autumn's Ashes

Autumn's Ashes

Sodden damp rotten
Leaves shed and forgotten
Paper putrified flowers
Light robbed from day's hours
Nests abandoned shells
Unwelcome decaying smells
Fierce frost scraping
Ice cold breath escaping
Shallow diminishing sun
Winter has begun
