Hustled

Hustled

When the cards were dealt
I was distracted it seems
I got nightmares
They got dreams
My hand, it was more
Like a rotten old foot
Their doors were opened
Mine were all shut
Their cards properly shuffled
A right royal flush
My bird in the hand
But none in the bush
Their plain poker faces
I thought I could trust
They got blackjack
But I'm shit or bust
Each one of them
Had a card up their sleeve
I wore a tank top
Far too naive
When the cards were dealt
I was distracted it seems
I got nightmares
They got dreams

Superb and so well written a real touch of poetry class read from beginning to its end.
Loved the way you wrote it with a bookended opening and closure message.
Full honours for writing and presenting your captivating poem.
And I wish you well.
