Grit the Honey Badger
I shuffle through the barren earth
My mother has just given birth
My mind is blank
The world is bright
Mama looks for something to eat tonight
I'm older now, she left me here
I'm made of grit I have no fear
A scorpion with its deathly sting
Is no match for a hungry young thing
I have my seed to spread to sow,
Its Mama will feed it and watch it grow
While I move on, onto the next
Knowing I'm leaving behind my best
A scaly snake with a venomous bite
Is going to be my tea tonight
Whilst in a coma as snake lies dead
To be eaten once I raise my weary head
What delights await today
A beehive on a branch does sway
They swarm around and pierce my skin
I wont give up they will not win
A honey badger made of steel
Greeting death with every meal
Skin like leather, my will is strong
And I will live forever long
The most ferocious creature in the land
Unscathed by any hand
Unafraid I power through
This life I've grown accustomed to
