Awkward

It was not 
so much a glow
I witnessed as
the protruding belly
looking as early 
pregnancy.

So,  when are
you expecting
the baby?

"Oh,  that
is just my
beer belly."

And then the 

embarrassed smile

and awkward silence

of the loud kind 
that follows
and the skipping
of food store
shopping aisles 
to avoid possible 
eye contact of the 
embarrasser and
chubby victim.
