Bad Dream

Awoken from sleep by the touch of a hand,
Your boy with a tear in his eye.
He has had a bad dream he can't understand,
Recalling it is making him cry.

Whispering words of comfort, you hug him tight
And lead him back to his room.
To reassure him you turn on the light
Ridding dark shadows caused by  the moon.

He asks you to stay as he still feels the fear,
You sit beside him stroking his face,
Words softly spoken, reassuring you're here
And there's no monsters or ghosts in this place.

As the whisp of the dream fades away in the night
Happy thoughts replacing the bad.
Eyelids heavy with sleep begin to close tight
But not before he whispers " I love you Dad."
