Baskets of Love

Baskets of Love

Freshly cut Tulips and Iris in my favorite wicker basket from long ago

My grandmother had woven it so strongly and yet softly with her hands of old

Now I arrange another basket on my back porch by the screen door, with Pussy Willows

And Daffodils, they are so lovely and delicate, charmed with a smile I watch them, Spring flowers adorn

As time changes and the days grow longer, the sun warms my cat in the window with pleasure

The love from the baskets from my house to the next, where people will turn there heads

To look at the beauty of Spring, the feeling of energy, the chatter of the birds behold

For all my love, is in a basket on my dining room table, just one more memory of the days of greatness told

As I look out int my garden, I can see my grandmother planting her next row of treasures
