Battlefield!

Prisoners of war taken overnight,
Silent surrender without a fight,
Helpless hostages confined to home,
Self-isolation in a private zone,
Captain Covid dispatching recruits,
No uniform required or marching boots,
He's a demon dictator, hates the living,
Rates bacteria, is unforgiving,
Vicious, malicious, suspicious in thought,
Repetitious in actions that sanction onslaught,
Cruel, vindictive, wicked, mean,
Discipline taken to extremes,
The savage ravishing, disparaging act
Of infiltrating the fatal attack
On innocent people caught unaware
Lives in jeopardy, peppered with fear,
Inevitable concern over catching the virus;
Here one day then considered a 'minus',
Casualties rapidly on the increase,
Tragedies sadly acknowledged by priests,
A backlog of burials,  hysterical outcries,
A numerical catastrophe counting those died,
An overwhelming battle, a one-sided affair,
White flags of surrender to wave in the air,
Time is the fall-guy caught on his knees
Unable to stand the vast enormity
Of tissue destruction, issues of health,
'Miss you" messages read by yourself,
What if it were Christmas? incensed frustration
Would overrun, overpower the occasion,
Isolation with  all its ties
Would break more hearts, greatly emphasise
The prize for survival,  the strive to survive
The ferocious virus from claiming more lives!
Captain Covid must be defeated ;
Peace restored though we feel depleted,
Ungracious devastation has outpaced us all,
The waste, elimination of patients has soared
Regardless of race, what language is spoken
Every case, individual painstakingly hopeful
They are not subjected to symptoms relating
To Coronavirus in this war deprivation,
It`s gone on too long, too far, too intense,
Enough is enough of this insolence,
Call off the troops, sound the retreat,
Consider the outcome duly complete!
