Sympathy And Flowers!
Deep in thought, overawed, totally dismayed,
A weeping mother kneels beside her late son`s grave,
Proven H.I.V. positive she watched him waste away,
Driven from existence by Aids!
She`s oblivious to the falling rain, livid in her soul,
The baby she had cradled now deprived of growing old,
Twenty years on simply gone; her world had just run cold,
`Dearest Simon` his gravestone read, 'God bless your soul`!
Deep in sorrow, morally broken, no words spoken aloud,
Silent thoughts, private mumblings, prayers said with heavy head bowed,
Sympathy and flowers for the sorrowful mourner separated from the crowd,
Lost in the feud of her solitude, her world turned inside out!
Blank expressions, vacant gazes (communication denials),
Simon`s mother blames herself for her son`s promiscuous lifestyle,
She`d raised him alone, his father left home to face a murder trial,
She`d had others, scores of lovers observed by her innocent child!
Lost in thought, deeply distraught, minutes seem like hours,
The passing of a lifetime decisive death devours,
Simon`s mother counts the cost, her heart sinks even lower,
In her hand she clasps a cross, sympathy and flowers!

Hello Marion! Yes! Iosing a child must be devastating! This inspired me to deal with the situation although my interpretation is fictitious!...Glenn! x
I love narrative poetry. This tells such a strong and sad story. You've brought a lot of emotion to the table here!
I 'm so glad it appeals to you dear friend. I had the phrase 'say it with flowers' on my mind & took it from there!.....Glenn x
