BE REAL

Make me realize I exist, whether an open hand or a closed fist.
Lately it seems, nightmares are synonymous with dreams.
Make me realize I am wrong, otherwise let’s build a friendship on common ground.
Before I found myself, I had many people more than willing to be my friend.
Now that I’ve been discovered, all the lies have been uncovered and I stare at the truth alone.
To consider who I was, being more likable than who I truly am?
Well! that’s a tough pill to swallow.
Fake friends still provide companionship, but realize this…
They could never provide guidance, what is it we’re really after or seek?

Before I adored being popular and fitting in, now I see the value in being real.
Before I hid beneath my flaws and insecurities, drowning them in substances that prevented them from ever being discovered.
I was afraid they might make me unable to run, from the image they had forced me to become.
I was afraid, I was so damaged, that everyone I surrounded myself around, would think I’m a loser and unworthy of love…
so I took advantage of my own imagination and creativity, allowing myself to become, someone everyone could love.

EXCEPT MYSELF
so I
ACCEPTED MYSELF
so I
COULD GROW
so I
COULD LOVE
so I…
SHARED
so You
COULD READ
so You
COULD RELATE
so You
COULD UNDERSTAND
so You
COULD BENEFIT

From the truth, from the reality, from the fear, from the PAIN!

Be Real
