Beasts

When confronted by anger
You get your weapons out
Going in for the jugular
You kill without doubt

The dark monsters of feeling
Rise when we need healing

You get what you give
So how will you live?

Return hate to hate
Or will you contemplate

This expression is love
Really a sign from above

That this person feels pain
They are feeling the strain

They just want to share
Feel someone will care

Their beast is howling
Their soul is growling

It needs to be understood
Be part of the neighbourhood

Wants to feel community
Needs to return to unity

We need to be connected
See ourselves in others reflected

When we share negativity
We are seeking connectivity

Confronted by this beast
Try present it with a feast

Of kindness and of care
Feed the soul stuck in there

The real them inside
The love they try to hide

Remind them they are light
Not linked to the inner fight

Need reminding of their worth
Known love since their birth

When I bring you my fear
When my beasts appear

Try to react like you see
Your reflection in me

Put down all the defences
Drop all of the pretenses

Greet my evil with peace
Being enemies will cease
