Best Time

Best Time

God said: 'I put you there, what did you enjoy most?'
I enjoyed the sunshine, wind blowing in my hair,
when I was young, running wild without a care,
I was indestructible, your world was my oyster.

There could be some improvements, I'll tell you -
why let people get old, renew them at sixty-five,
then life would be continuous, great to be alive,
don't let them stray, you can do anything, they say.

Look what happened when you gave us all free will,
a disaster, fighting and squabbling will always occur,
it might be better if you made us all the same colour,
and then we could say that all of our lives matter.

Or was this the way, the masterpiece it was meant to be,
instead of the greatest wonder and a creation of beauty.
