Poem -

Bet on You

Friendship is the biggest risk
   That someone's heart can take
But when the friend is you
     There's no risk that I can't make,
   Come along my weary heart
     You're battered black and blue
I knew it from the very start
I'd have to bet with you
And though I hate the risk so great
And though I hate to lose
I cannot alter from this state
My friend is whom I choose
I'm sorry heart, I really am
But when you care so much
You bet with everything you can
      Although the odds are such
And when your heart is on the line
And all bets are locked in place
I hope this precious friend of mine
Won't throw it in my face
And if they do I hope they learn
         That I will bet again
And hope that next time I will earn
         More than tears and pain
