BLOOD MOON
Once in a blue moon...mine was red...
Full of blood...full of dread...
How I wished that moon was blue..
But it turned to red when I met you.
All the light was drained from me..
I prayed for moonlight's recovery
But red is all I'd ever see...
Locked up in your cage, you held the key
But my optimism brought me discovery...
I had no music...I had no muse...
I was just there to abuse.
At first you let me in your car
"Head down!"......You would say.....
I never could look out my window
I was just your prey.
Then one day you allowed me..
To use paper and pen..
I spent that whole day writing..
Until it happened all again...
You dealt your pain...
Over and over yet again...
You were insane!
My body's death beneath the rain..
My heart was empty, no more to drain.
I never saw the light of day,
For two years, locked up in your cage...
No phone, no friend, no paper or pen...
Just built up rage...when would it end?
Well it did one day when you forgot..
You left the house...the door unlocked...
Scared if I left...
Scarred if I stayed...
For so long I had obeyed.
I had no friends, no family...
Is this where I was meant to be?
All I remember was this line...
My optimism was my discovery...
I left that house..
I lost that key..
Years later he did find me..
And yet again he made me bleed.
The moon was full...but this time blue..
And the last I ever saw of you!

One of my personal favourites Carey, I love your style and work, but this was exceptional. ย
So atmospheric, a great piece of craftmanship!
I also liked at the end where you returned to the start incorporating the moon and it's colour in reverse. ย I just read it again and could drivel on endlessly. ย The opening two lines also set the scene 'beautifully'!ย It truly is a winner for me Carey up to now this month, we have a way to go yet, but it's defo on my list lol!
Sorry, meant to say, that thinking about it the moon is meant to be made of cheese isn't it so perhaps you should be Miss Cheese he he LOL!!
