MY MAGIC LEGS

MY MAGIC LEGS

Lying here in this hospital bed
My thoughts hold excitement
as I’m prepped with the meds.
Now count to ten the masked man said.

My fuzzy eyes try to fight
An induced sleep,
Nighty night…
Looking back now I could never forget
The dreams I had,
The people I met.

My imagination was vast and broad
As a twelve-year-old
Wanting nothing more
Than to see wiggling toes
Instead of the floor.

Somehow, I knew just how it would feel
To run, dance and jump
Followed by a cartwheel!

When I finally woke from that long operation
I tried to peek at the surgeon’s creation
Slowly, he peeled away the white sheet
And there I could see ten toes and two feet.

My whole body tingled from below to my head
And that’s why I call these my magical legs.

You felt your "magical legs" then, feel magical now. Well done!
