Poem -

In the Boat that I Rowed

In the Boat that I Rowed

They say that it comes,
And they say that it goes,
This feeling of dark despair;
It comes as it goes.

It bled me clean,
And it stripped my soul.
But still I suffered,
Because they said it'll go.

They said I'll be OK,
But then what did they know
How past over the horizon,
I had sailed in my boat.

Because for me it came
And then took a little too long to go.
And before I could reason,
it flew me in its flow.

But like they never tell you,
And something I'd always known,
Putting the pieces together
Does not make a whole.

Convinced by my conviction
And propelled by the flow,
I attacked my oars with vigour
To reach my sun of hope.

Way past the horizon
I chased the sun to dusk,
And having lost it to the sea
The last of my hopes felt dunked.

But like they said to me
Before I left the shore,
Happiness did come knocking
But I failed to get the door.

Enlightened by the darkness
And blinded for want of light,
I took my plunge in earnest,
And so I took my flight.

But the sun did come up
Just as they said it would,
And then it went on shining
Through the times for those who stood.

Greetings Akshat,

"The past cannot be cured, it can only put in its place another day secured...." Very intriguing poem...The effervescent continuous search for not merely the fountain of youth but the serenities of life that has escaped and or eluded us all at one point are the other. The desperate needs and wanting to leave the clouded past of our tormented yesterday and obliviousness to our consequences of today still unknown behind, as we set sail in search for a brighter and more lucrative tomorrows…We all must pay the toll to our guardian angel to see us on our journey……….Even if the boat is yours to row.....Great poem!!

Smooth sailing,

Jim

Hey Jim..

Thanks a lot for putting the message of the poem in such powerful words.
I just hope this poem can motivate us all to 'find our sun' and not give up on it. For we must all carry our own cross, only then can we hope of having a full life!

Hello Askshat,

There comes a time when all things are destined to a change. Mourning what once was will not stop its process.

The sun will continue to shine day after day as she always has, for she knows that spring awaits her promise.

Never once, did the spring cast a curse, neither on the fall nor the winter for taking her summer away, for she new that the fall has come for her to take rest, and the winter is preserving her seeds in her dark and cold belly, and so she never lost hope, and always saved her kiss for the summer.

.

And so is life, it just goes round and round to conceal what is the beginning and what seems to be the end, as we perceive it. And yet inside this hidden circle celebrations are being composed, as we are busy finding the starting point outside its circle.

Loved your poem.

Hello (lady ambassador Shirley), as always, your responses or comments places an individual’s heart at ease and such as Askshats boat of journey, on a smooth and very beautiful search of serenity, on the open seas of our ever changing lives…. and from my end, I shall bid yourself, Askshats and all of Gods people, (a very healthy good night), from my end of this world....
