The best poetry begins as a blank page!
Virginal, unblemished and waiting…
Waiting for a thought to be
an inspiration,
which is then
translated into a word.
Where it then creates an image,
to generates an emotion…
Thought provoking,
Tear choking,
Laughter making
Conscience stroking
Emotion.
And so begins the poets journey..

This is a really good piece - it says exactly what poetry is all about- The definition of poetry is "Literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm poems collectively or as a genre of literature".
so often 'poetry seems to consist of a collection of random phrases , incorporating unheard of words, that have no connection and even less meaning... and I am sure people are too embarrased to say that they dont understand what the heck its all about- In fact I once wrote a poem made up of diverse phrases and for a joke just put them all together ( not on this site I hasten to add..) you should have read the comments. all complimentary..I laughed for days as there was NO meaning to it at all..just a social exercise .. This however is excellent, clear in its intent and fulfils everything poetry is about!

Lodigiana, simply glorious, I love reading the thoughts of poets like you, masters of articulation who navigate effortlessly through varied emotions and points of view, some people have conversations on sports politics...I do enjoy that as well, but 'poetry' is such an ever expanding universe of ideas, approaches, philosophies...it is virtually impossible to fence this genre into one basic definition that reels in its identity, a cluster of word impressions, expression of varied emotions, random thought steams, a relationship or conversations between a poet and the reader that has existed since language....such a power entity is poetry, enjoyed reading you, poetess, cheers
