BORROWED LINES

I came back to tell them that they'd stolen my lines,
given them my beauty, I'd seen all of the signs,
could you ever paint like Da Vinci or Michaelangelo,
out of your league in green and shades of indigo.

I reneged, my spirit lived on in another's page,
mine had been vivid but theirs was only beige,
time to guide, time I tried to power them on,
they could not wait now because they would be gone.

I gave them my best with veins of love and pathos,
if someone asked you, then you'd say, 'simply because,'
it touched your absent heart, encouraged you to start,
right on cue, the words coated like a siver dart.

It was done, you'd used my magic with your own,
now that you're so damn clever, I might leave you alone.
