Bouquets of Hypocrisy

Bouquets of Hypocrisy

The high crime of hypocrisy

finds me publicly charged

I offer up the defense
that we all have moments
when our reactive actions
run contrary to previous pious proclamations

That person we imagine we are
gets jarred then blurred
beyond recognition
by the realities of hard circumstance

Leaving us guilty hypocrites
with egg on our faces
as we are led away in handcuffs
for a long stint in repercussion prison

Hi Steve,

Short Synopsis, long on self reflection.  We've all been there.  We're all guilty.  We are the prisoners of ourselves. (actually, your poem inspired me to write a Haiku, which I've posted today, called "Barred Souls")  I liked your write a lot!

Peace and Love,

xox Larry
