Caged

The door in front closes,
Whilst the one behind opens,
Eyes that were open,
Now remain shut.
Ears that once listened,
Deafened by truth,
Lips now sealed,
In muffled tone,
The face in the mirror,
reflecting the journey,
travelled through life's,Â
eternal battle,
Living through cycles,
each worse than the last,
Upon the face,
the scars are cast,
Legs bear the weight,
of all who were carried,
Run turns to shuffle,
tired & aged,
From heads that once laid,
heavy as stone,Â
Upon the shoulder now broken,
from promises made,
The body lies broken,
though feet remain walking,
Searching for reason,
yearning for peace,
Sleep brings no solace,
as day follows night,
Each one like the last,
in losing the fight,
Wings that are clipped,
by mind that is poison,
Can't carry the soul,
once graceful in flight,
The cage door opened,
though no intention,
For the face in the mirrorÂ
Is the one true companion…
