CALL MY NAME
I am brave, I am tough
I am not supposed to cry
Instead I laugh,
My call unheard, my voice is cut
I need to say
Instead I shut,
My arms extended, I want to receive
My hands are too proud
Instead I retrieve,
I am lost, I need a guide
I do not show
Instead I hide.
Throw a seed around my heart,
Something will grow,
As through the crack
Light can pass.
I am steel, I am flower,
I am strong, I am fragile,
Enlace your fingers
Enclose your hands
Protect my soul
-Call my name.

Your first six words set out how I have interpreted your poem. The writer is someone who is always expected to be strong, who helps others but when it comes to them needing help their cries for it are often ignored or they cannot bring themselves to ask. "I do not show, instead I hide."
"Throw a seed around my heart" is a great line. It says everything about the writer. They don't seek acknowledgement or thanks for what they do just that someone knows their name.
Sorry if I got it wrong.
Hi Bernie, this is not about me but about all those people out there
who feel like they have to be strong even when they cannot be.
I am a happy soul, so I tend to write about happiness and positivity,
but as a writer I do have to feel the other's struggles and let my heart
guide my pen. As you know, when people read poetry they relate to it.
I always appreciate your input, Thank you mate.
Thank you. I got it mostly right I think. I get the part about feeling others' struggles. No one does that better than a poet - in my humble opinion.
