Schools in Session

Back to schoolÂ
fun for mostÂ
especially the cool kidsÂ
You know the onesÂ
I’m talking about, they always get
what they wantÂ
Covered in namebrandsÂ
multiple pairs of shoesÂ
designer backpacksÂ
They don’t ride the busÂ
their parents are richÂ
so they get dropped offÂ
By their momsÂ
in expensive luxury carsÂ
and picked up tooÂ
But for the kidsÂ
that aren’t as blessedÂ
the first day of schoolÂ
Seems like HellÂ
dressed in hand me downsÂ
wearing generic shoesÂ
The same backpackÂ
as they had last yearÂ
the only thing genuineÂ
Is their fearÂ
always being picked onÂ
their heads facing the groundÂ
Just hoping to go unnoticedÂ
afraid of the jocks, prepsÂ
and the rich kidsÂ
Feeling like their only placeÂ
in school truly isÂ
to provide amusementÂ
FOR THE FILTHY RICHÂ
to prey on, making themselvesÂ
feel better off others misfortuneÂ
SICKÂ
Wheres the vaccinationÂ
to prevent these statisticsÂ
that consistently wreak havocÂ
Taking the livesÂ
of the most innocentÂ
just trying to better themselvesÂ
By getting an educationÂ
forced on themÂ
by the state who mandatesÂ
THEMÂ
PLEASE CHILDREN,
PLEASE HAVE YOURÂ
MASKS ON!Â

thanks for shining a light on bullying, I believe being rich has little to do with it, I believe it is parents that don't teach accountability, "do unto others as you would have done unto you" MORALS, and learning service to others! Just my humble opinion brought out by your good write Rob!..................................Jim
Good point Jim , thanks for the feedback .Â
Interesting poem that brings to the surface some of the reasons why suicide is an on going issue. However I can honestly say from my own background on this subject, that financial status can in fact create depression, especially on the young. Suicide occurs for various reasons. Depending on the mental stability and what is impacting a person in that moment. My bestie died at 15. She wasn’t rich but wasn’t bullied. She was just struggling to fit into this world and feel comfortable in her own skin. But I know of people from wealthy backgrounds that have also died through mental health issues. Men in particular tend to be a greater risk purely because Men tend to be educated to be seen as strong and not cry, because it’s a sign of weakness. My dad killed himself because he never allowed people to see his weaknesses and worries. The world needs to allow all of us to not be judged by our differences. But be seen purely for the individual human being we each are. Emotionally driven and vulnerable. It’s okay to not be okay. Misery can be found in all walks of life because mental health issues do not have an age, or status. The mind is a delicate thing Â
your poem definitely got me thinking which is a good thing xÂ
