Celebration

The bunting is up, tied securely to some trees
Miniature Union Jacks fluttering in the breeze
The neighbours are out with their tables and chairs
They're all social distancing coz everyone cares

There's cheering and laughter, glasses raised in a toast
To all of those heroes who gave their utmost
There's a ping-pong table to keep the kids occupied
And a little barbecue with bangers on the side

It's a scene that's repeated from Glasgow to Reading
Nothing quite like it since that famous royal wedding
There's music and singing, two old dears do a jive
This VE celebration has made our street come alive
