One Minute a Week

One Minute a Week

It's Thursday night and a minute to 8
Something's in the air, I can anticipate
One by one doors open and faces appear
Everyone is smiling, getting ready to cheer

The clock strikes 8 and a firework explodes
Suddenly a sea of noise from all streets and roads
The lady at 13 is banging a pan
Loud shouts and whistles from every woman and man

I open my window and join in the applause
It's really no effort for such a worthy cause
We're relying on these heroes to get us through this mess
The message is clear, God bless the NHS!
