Sorry for the copycat name! I`ll change it if anyone has any issues with the title. But then again, lots of different and amazing poems about this topic, so no plagiarism here!
The years they fly
We change our minds.
We grow up fast.
And I`m stuck in the past.
You have your life now.
Your self-sufficient person.
You have moved to distant lands.
Work and career, I understand.
You`ll have a wife soon.Β
That best man's speech I dread.
Out of embarrassment, and sadness.
Time spent.
But in my eyes.
You're the one that played indoor cricket.
(Shhh. Don't tell mum)
You're the one that made me laugh.
(No matter how you felt)
You're the one that stayed with me.
(Even when I was left for dead)
Your the one that I`m glad I grew up with.
(Someone I couldn't live without)
So cheers to you.
My old friend.
Now walk your own path.
And I`ll wave as you pass.
Don`t fade away bro.

Aw...actually brought a tear to my eye ...pinned!! This is beautiful ...truly Mr Fish, accepting yet poignant and touching. Both my kids live at the opposite end of the country from me so it touched a nerve...stunning π

There are many relationships that influence our lives but I am so happy to hear of this relationship.....Brother to Brother.....It's a VERY special bond as family most often is (or should be).....At the end of the day....It's family that matters most......no changing that....and the fact that your bond with your brother is prevalent is just a joy to see.....and it's VERY apparent in this most moving and honest tribute piece you've delivered so beautifully here......ALL STARSΒ &Β PINNED!!......Bravo dear poet brother!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xoΒ : )
Awww thanks so much Tony, I really wasnt expecting you! XD... but yes so very true, the Brotherhood bond is very strong. I just feel grateful that I was able to live (and keep living) life with this bond. Not everyone has brothers. Not everyone has families. So I am extremely grateful of my luck.
