Poem -

Cheater

Sorry, it didn’t sadden me to say that you weren’t my main, though I loved you all the same.

Taking jabs at you with friends at the pub down the road, whilst you were at home trying to crack my code.

From your tangents of rhythm, to your every colloquialism, I remembered your every phrase, but you were just at the beginning of my maze.

Why waste your time in trying to give me a good name when you knew deep down that this, for me, was just a game?

Guilting me with a future so promising, that came with a house, vows, and two wedding rings.

Your delusions were laughable, but they gave you the sense that you were somehow infallible.

You thought what was right for you was ultimately right for me too, but there’s no way that I’d ever believe in what you say.

Did you misinterpret sex for sect when we first met?

You were bogged down to your ideals, while I was still making other late night deals.

You barely left me satiated, your best moves could easily be imitated.

You had convinced yourself that your soulmate was found, I’m sorry that I had you so spellbound.

Why did it come as such a surprise to you? You can’t tell me that you never knew.

I made it so blatantly obvious, I even watched you, at times, get envious.

I had heard from others that love is blind, but it was like you completely turned off all warning signs from your mind.

I had left you heart broken, whereas you merely became one of my tokens.

I didn’t quite understand when you accused me so, with your blame being thrown.
Should I really be that sorry?

“This was the only love I’ve ever known.”
