My Childs Innocense

My beautiful child,

Loved you since you first smiled,

So much intelligence,

Yet so much innocence,

Your early sense of entertainment,

Unbelievable release of your containment,

No sleeping tonight you say,

I question why this you relay,

You answer without delay,

No school tomorrow if no end for today,

Your display of unconditional affection,

No return in anticipation,

You say, I’m going to marry you rather,

A beautiful achievement as a Father,

You hug and kiss me,

A happy tear, not for you to see,

You have fun, run and play,

Sometimes tiring and all day,

Hide and go seek, throwing a ball,

Enjoyment, excitement, playing is your all,

Made up jokes and riddles you tell,

Not content but creativity to me did this sell,

The laughter, for lack of a punchline,

After told, your innocent face and smiley shine,

The fantasy stories you tell with belief,

Your castles in the sky and doggies you have, never brief,

The books, magazines, pretended you read to me,

Brushing past the text, pointing out pictures you see,

Your misheard words you repeat,

Makes my heart laugh what a treat,

Your food demands and amount you eat,

Into that little body you complete,

Your toilet habits, sometimes you leave a stripe,

Bending over saying please wipe,

While busy, you undo my shoelace,

No reason but a smiling face,

Your bath time is not without a snigger,

A duck, facecloth, bubbles, lots of water, go figure,

Your dancing and prancing while drying,

Pyjama time sometimes trying,

In the bed and story time you resist,

No, a puppet show first you insist,

 Your prayer to Jesus, to thank for all,

Endless content, for bed time to stall,

We kiss hug and say good night,

About to retire, your last plight,

Daddy, yes Angel, I say,

Thank you for a beautiful day,

 I love you so much I repeat,

A cute, sweet giggle beneath the sheet,

Your eyes flicker as you fall asleep,

No need to even count sheep,

No minds worry,

You have no real sorry,

You are young and innocent,

Good Night.
