Christmas Tree...

Christmas Tree...

A

star

is twinkling

lofty pristine sentinel

atop our noble Christmas tree

as the night steals in to come and see

a hundred lights begin their dancing spree

spangled baubles glitter hugging silver tinsel

cluttering the scented branches with expectant glee

heavy feet muffled in soft leather falling on powdered floor

a mischievous bite and a generous sip, leaving a tell-tale spoor

hark!

wishes in festooned boxes spoil

each wide eyed girl and boy

and eager hearts roil

in seasonal joy
