Cigarette Burns

We walked to the far side of the lake and smoked cigarettes.
I asked her what a cigarette burn felt like. She said it didn't hurt but it was warm. So I took my cigarette and burned it into my forearm. It didn't hurt. Not when I was with her. We didn't talk after that. We walked back and sat down. We said nothing. Did nothing. We were silent.
I sat there
flesh burned.
She sat there.
That was the last time we were together.
