Cleopatra

Cleopatra

O how a weak heart trembles.
As second thought assembles.
Come slither forth, sharply sting,
Eagerly I await thine spring.
Β
Stifle this burden which beats,
Infused with amorous defeats.
Thine strike a bittersweet cure,
Hastening death's allure.
Β
A chaste kiss on riveting lips,
O serpentine orifice as venom drips.
Tender be thine prickled scorn,
Which expiry hath forsworn.
Β
Cold tis the bitter truth,
Forsaken by eternal youth.
Betrayal filched a lover's heart,
Bestowing a treacherous dart.
Β
Thine eyes of bejeweled gem,
Benevolence twixt apathy stem.
Forked art promises purpose
Fatal poison so arose.
Β
Caressing scaly flesh appeases,
Unfounded trepidation eases.
Terry not thine lethal retribution,
I seek no deity's absolution.
