Cleopatra

O' how a weak heart trembles.
Second thought assembles.
Come slither forth, sharply sting,
Eagerly I await thine spring.
Stifle this burden which beats,
Abundant infused defeats.
Thine strike a bittersweet cure,
Hasten death's allure.
A chaste kiss on riveting lips,
O serpentine orifice, venom drips.
Tender be thine prickled scorn,
Which expiry hath forsworn.
Cold tis the bitter truth,
Forsaken, ye eternal youth.
Betrayal filched a lover's heart,
Bestow a treacherous dart.
Thine eyes of bejeweled gem,
Benevolence twixt apathy stem.
Forked art promises purpose
Fatal poison so arose.
Caressing scaly flesh appeases,
Unfounded trepidation eases.
Terry, not lethal retribution,
I seek no divine absolution.

Cleopatra just knew how to get what she wanted. It's sad it ended in suicide. I love this Poetess. Thumbs up.
