Cleopatra's Breath

Cleopatra's Breath

Breathe deeply from the ancients
From atoms trapped within our global home
If you feel the breath of Cleopatra
You will never be alone

Perhaps a sonnet from Shakespeare
Was entwined in your last draw
Or the reeking breath of his mistress
So much harder to ignore

Julius Caesar breathed
Exactly as you do
Five hundred million breaths or more
Perchance some came to you

So recycle Cleopatra’s breath once more
A possibility not so wild
As you go about your day
Pass it on to your grandchild
