Colors

Do you see the beauty of these colors?

Is it clear there is no spark

Everywhere except beyond the iris

You shade life with the breath of trees

When we drink you in everything flows

But there's no sound emanating from you heart

Feeling the smoothness of your lines

Makes touching you divinely inane

Through our nose sorted smells have escaped

To be captured in the sky on God's palette

We hunger for you through cheap recreations

On our clothes with large buttons and luxurious lapels

Flowers are the friends of your greatest works

As are the birds and the bees of the ones we call artists

Cuts reveal you as from red to dark you become

As coats of yellow and black stripes fly straight towards the sun

You're their protector as you reveal the nectars

That our tongues would never delight to suckle

Without you there to paint the picture for us to see

As our greatest gift to be seen but never heard
