Come Alive (April 2021)

As I walked along the streets
That April day
I saw blossom and young leaves 
On trees
And flowers growing.
Heard birdsong.

I came to the shops and cafes
Which were reopening
After a forced slumber:
Shop keepers putting
Their signs outside premises

I walked past the opened pub:
Door open:
With its beer garden at rear.
For the first time in months
People were outside drinking beer.

I carried on past the queues
Outside hairdressers
And saw people milling around,
Chatting with each othe

And in the breeze I could
Hear the wind whispering:
"Come alive.  Come alive.  Come alive".
