Covered By Your Grace

Covered By Your Grace

Once muscle, tendons, nerves, veins of blood and skin

Our bodies filled with living cells and organs giving us life

Energy to our limbs, spirit, soul, and mind

We pass the years, the decades, the trails we left behind

Only rock, stone, and pebbles lay and the echoes through the wind

Valleys and mountains hunger for our life once more

Where we brought our native song and dance with pride

Left behind in the valleys, our broken spirits by and by

I hear the cry of the wolf as he mourns in our glory

A glory to the gods, a peace now still remains

Thankful for our spirit, still rising while our bones lay naked

The Sauk, Sioux, and Black Foot bring grace to the mountains

Where we spread our magical wings from the caverns thanking

The gods of the earth for our bones no more naked lay covered

Thank you for the land we once knew

And our native heritage that we know
