Crumbling Dreams

Crumbling dreams made of basalt stone,
All but memories of kingdoms throne.
Tombs dot fields from battles fought,
From dreams of glory with spoils sought.
Β
Celtic winds lamenting earth bound soul,
Moaning the plight of dooms day toll.
Tattered colored flags wave behind,
As ghostly warriors form aligned.
Β
Forever after fighting a war,
From distant lands across foreign shore
Fairy-tales, dragons, and warrior knight,
For honor, glory and the thrill of the fight.
Β
History books don't write the story,
Of times past in search of glory.
But fabled knights with shiny armor steel,
Echoes of battles beyond surreal.
Β
Of lands of riches untold
Where epic battles ne'er unfold
Romantic notions of times past,
Where dreams are lived but never last.
