As strong as iron ore,
His patience wears thin.
He is loved to the core,
So he'll never give in.
He's as stubborn as a mule,Â
Family always held close.
Through many a duel,
Over who loves the most.

Though not the kind of words I could ever see myself writing I still think the comparison with iron ore is great. The second line sort of indicates a bit of a disciplinarian but one who is loved. Stubborn as a mule suggests someone who would do anything for his family.Â
Hi Bernie, my dad has always been a strong figure in our family...the second line, is because he is in hospital at the moment and his patience is wearing thin and we want him to fight this horrible pancretititus!!
but yes he will always do anything for us and yes he has always been a firm but kind man ...so you got this pretty spot on...thanks for your kind words xxxx
Sorry to hear that about your dad and sorry I got the second line wrong. X
You have nothing to apologise for Bernie, I learned a long time ago that people take from your words what they feel and thats okay, some of my older peices I re-read and think ..ahh that what I meant!! haha
you got it all pretty spot on in truth xxx
