Mam

Mam

Mam

In certain pockets of time
Memories flutter too fast,
Days get knocked out of line
Certain moments, forever last.

Etched into a heartbeat
Your voice still lingers here
Lost in a world of bittersweet,
And the remaining flow of tears

Each year it passes quickly
Until pained days like these
That feeling, still feels sickly
Where missing you never leaves

It's a fact that I get drawn to poems like this about mums and dads. It's like I want to experience vicariously something I never had and I don't mean that in a weird way. Your words are lovely. "Etched into a heartbeat" is such a great line. And the perfect last line.

As I approach the anniversaries of both of my parents passing .. there could not possibly be a more poignant nor powerful message wrapped so lovingly within a poem .. Kindest regards, and with much respect, N x

Hello Neville, thanks for your kind words. Life keeps going but this time of year I seem to go back in time quite frequently in my head..sending good thoughts your way too xx

Hi Lorna ...where do they go? Perhaps if we knew we'd sleep easier. I often think grief is much too puny a word for what we endure. Your mam is beautiful, your words
deeply capture your love and emotion...hugs xx

Lorna I read your dad poem recently and better read Mam as well.
Was not disappointed in what you have so eloquently written here.
A forlorn yet beautiful write and yes, it seems like a blink of an eye when a cherished one passes away. My mum went too soon.
Photographs and memories help to a point but if one wish were to be granted your mum would still be here.

Take care, one day at a time and hope all is well bonny lass.

Shaun xx
