Dear John

Im sorry when you left I showed you, you were leaving pain,
Will I see you again,Β
Will it be the same,
Will this war ever end,
Will we see a change,
I cry into my pillow when I hear your son speak you name,
And when your daughter calls for you,
I do the same,
I spend most my days, head in hands with a teary face,
You can't ever be replaced,
So I'll never try,
But if you don't ever return,
I'll forever cry,
It kills me to think that you've died,
Or that you might not look into your children's eyes,
See them all grown up, rejoice or reprise,
I'll tell them dad's a soldier and I'll voice it with pride,
Destroying lives?
I know it's not you,
Protecting life,
It's what you got to do,
your little one's two,Β but she'll know that it's true,
She's safe playing in the street and it's thanks to you,
And every one of your comrades,
My heart breaks for the gone but not forgotten dads,
If you had to let him go my only hope is that you got him back.
Respect,
peace,
Love.
