Dear Little Girlโ€ฆ

Dear Little Girlโ€ฆ

On this day, the day of my birth, I reminisce with my photographic extravaganza, the images, a clicking reel to reel vintage movie; and I wonder, if I could write to my younger self, what would I say?

Dear little girl, halo of golden curls illuminating your cherub faรงade, saucer green eyes wide in wonderment, cheeks a velvet soft palette of rose blush and a mind pure as the artist new canvas โ€“

To you, whose hand was never held or who felt the sweetness of a kiss, to the one, who searched for why? Why you were hit with hands, with words, with steely grey eyes that penetrated to the core โ€“

To you, who fought back the tears and became a mute, too scared to want, too afraid to speak of desires; whose only friends were the rabbits and the foxes, who comforted you in your darkest hours-

Dear child, who danced under the stars, who sang to the moon, in the secrecy of the forest; to the one whose loneliness could break even the most cold and hating heart of stone - ย

To the rebellious teenager, who didnโ€™t fit, who was told she was bad, ugly and sinful; to the one whose dreams were shattered into a thousand shards, each one piercing your fragile pleading soul โ€“

To the woman, that survived without love, but loved anyway; to the woman of light, who did not die, even when drowning in a hundred oceans of blackness, still believing , when no one believed in you-

Everyone failed you but you will not fail; I wish to say to youโ€ฆ

Please open your eyes and let your tears fall like celestial silver globes, beautiful in sadness; let me use them to draw the moon, huge and spherical, so you may dance and sing in its glow once more-

Let me take the blood of your tattered heart to paint the prettiest lips into a smile that could melt an arctic winter; and let me take your pain and create poetry, using your veiled silences as poetic justice-

My hand, will be an expression of your inner misunderstood feelings; an imperfect reflection of perfection-

Your life

Your feelings

Your hopes

Your dreams

You are me, and I, am you
