DESPERATE WISHES
Hopes and dreams have taken wings
I watched them fly away
Now I live moment to moment
And simply day to day
I've settled for the reachable
The attainable goal
The doable, the possible
To have some kind of control
Dreams are desperate wishes
That you can't possibly fulfill
You can't make them happen
By the power of your will
Dreams are misguided missiles
Broken arrows to the heart
All the waiting, hoping, longing
Will only crush your dreams apart
Dreams are wishful thinking
You can't make them come true
They're broken promises, you can't keep
No matter what you do
Don't tie your dreams to a hope and a prayer
Wishing that someday..
Or make a wish upon a star
It will lead your heart astray

Thank you Whispering Dream. I felt the pain of desiring, hoping, dreaming, longing and desperately wishing- only to see them crushed. I didn't want to feel that pain, so I stopped trying to have anything that was just out of reach.
I think we all felt that at some point in our lives. Just don't give up hope.
