Destination Purgatory

Destination Purgatory

In my youth
I often used
My passport
As a passage
To escape
Abandonment

For entering
The unknown
Was far easier
Than facing
The known

Exploring
 Asia
Europe
Africa
And South America
Were
Pain Killers
To suppress
The pain
Of Rejection

I never
Regretted
This prescription
As it was
Much better
Than wallowing
Into my own
Ethnocentrism

Today
Debt
Commitment
and
Family
Have
Bounded
Me
From
Reverting
Back
To this
Form
Of self- medication
Yet one
Day
I will
Get on
The plane
And return
To Euphoria
