Diamond Duo

It all started with a flyer in a store,
an attempt to make us a kitten owner no more
a rescue from the sometimes cruel outdoors.

Diamond needed a special home,
he wasn't quite suited to be alone...
no chance of surviving with a typical roam.

A stranger named Cindy answered the request,
she was anxious to provide all of her best.
We were hesitant at first; would she pass the test?

Her love of cats displayed from the start,
no hesitation for affection to easily impart.
She quickly became a gem in all of our hearts.

Cumulative value increased when introduced,
contentment factor given immediate boost
rewarding to watch her sadness noosed.

We enjoyed visiting as time was found,
no doubt in our minds a precious pair had abound
witnessing it all was enough to astound.

But suddenly word came like a knife,
God had chosen to award Cindy eternal life...
...the diamond duo now left to strife.
