DISMANTLING

DISMANTLING

My soul has been wrung out
My heart is crushed

Of all life and it's beauty

Down the tube, flushed

You see a sun filled sky

So thankful for the day

While inwardly, I die

Wishing my life away

I've had a life time of sorrow

This slow dismantling of me

Here I lie, dying silently within

And you can't even see

I have determined, though I suffer

There is breath left in me to fight

Daily, I struggle to survive

But I will not go softly into that night

When I wanted to surrender

I wanted the waves to take me

Take not my life, but my suffering

And set my soul free

At every turn, death thought he had me

But God determined for me to live

Through my despair and my suffering

He's decided, I have yet more to give
