Dock Ellis and the No Hitter on Acid
A little drop on the tongue
then some speed
Got on the mound
Could not feel the ball
The ball was small sometimes,
the ball was large sometimes,
sometimes I saw the catcher,
sometimes I didn't.
Sometimes, I tried to stare the hitter down
and throw while I was looking at him
But something
clicked!!!
I shut the
audience off
and all fear gone
Finding the baseball docking station...
in the fourth inning was tripping thought
that Richard Nixon was the home plate umpire...
When they told me game was over I had
a no hitter...
Why can’t this happen all the time??????????

Doc Ellis threw a no-hitter on June 12, 1970. He later stated that he accomplished the feat under the influence of LSD. Reporters at the game say they do not believe the claim. Ellis was the starting pitcher for the National League in the All-Star Game in 1971. That year, the Pirates were World Series champions. Joining the Yankees in 1976, he helped lead the team to the 1976 World Series, and was named the American League Comeback Player of the Year in the process.
