Dragon

Dragon

I saw in father, sadist arise,
Horrid beast rears scaring paw.
Glossy eyes spitfire, hypnotize,
frozen in weary awe.

Tainted breath, tobacco ash,
Large talons heavily descend.
Anticipating, verbal backlash
Fervent prayer, who will defend?

What'd I do to warrant his wrath?
Blows scathe lasting tracks.
Brutal marks made grisly path,
Scars you can't take back.

Now I, deemed crusader,
Dispatches dragon abuse.
I instill be heroic slayer,
Assaulting others, nary excuse.

Stand your ground, my sweet,
Present another cheek.
Vapid villains descry defeat,
Cruelty, tis entity weak

Wow!!.....I haven't read a DARKLY poem for quite a while...... missed you girlfriend...... what is it with Dragon poems lately...... been reading a lot of them...... your style is very well suited for this subject matter and this write in particular is 'way creative' and entirely compelling in its tragic believability!!...I was thoroughly engrossed in the idea that the concern displayed by the metaphor of the Dragon being the realistic representation of a father's abuse!!....... wow!!...... stellar stuff!!......ALL STARS!! & PINNED!!...... you go girl!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xo. : )

Hi Lisa,
It seems like ages ago since I've seen one of your poems on Cosmo. This is an excellent write although the subject of domestic abuse is a dark one.

Long time no read - Hope you're keeping wellΒ  - Syd xoΒ

Exquisitely crafted. You give so much of yourself, here. As always.
Leaving little to the imagination, you probe, the recesses, of the cultivated inquiring mind. How could you deny yourself the right to express freely the sense of worth, within the " verbal construct " ? Born of hope and promise, to get more, from it. Than you thought possible ?
Learning your way, of showing the fabric " masking " the hidden gem. The line of distinct substance, cast from the artistic interpretation.
Neat celebration of unique form. And, its relevance.
Keep it. Use it. Do not lose it. Make it....YOURS. Forever ?Β  :) :)

" Who would not give, you, the world ? " If, ever, they had the inclination. You, offer so much, so readily. It, is in your nature of " art by design " ! Keep it up.Β  :)
P.S You seem so charitable too. Using all those " kind " words, and, the conertations, they thereby bring. To any table, where plans are forged, for good work.Β  X Lovely Jubbly !!! Sense, you are the motivator.... the inspiration for more, than conceived possible.

Abusive,fragile,younger year
the monster's features shine,in the mirror's pane,you shed a tear
painless understanding is never near
prepare yourself for a life of fear?
Ironic transfiguration from vice to virtue
exemplary model,he will even teach you!
Caution to your vengeance,it can deify
you must curb your anger, put your hate aside,Love is His vast and merciful veil
open your heart and He will prevail
Agape He instilled in us,iconic like, the path is carved for human kind's plight, forgiveness is the key to the Doors of the Kingdom of Heaven, you will live eternally in the Garden of Eden......

" In the eyes of the beholder....!! "
