Dragon

Dragon

I saw in my father, the beast arising,
Like a horrid dragon, rearing an ugly head.
His eyes hatefully spit fire, hypnotizing,
Bespelled my heart, searing hopeless dread.

He smiled malevolently with a tobacco grin,
His large taloned hands heavily descend.
I closed my eyes, bottling the fear within,
Praying fervently, for a hero to defend.

What'd I done warranting the wrath?
Blows that came had drawn innocent blood.
Brutal marks made a scarring path,
On calloused knees, smeared with gory crud.

Now as a parent I’ve become, the slayer,
Dispatching a horrid dragon called abuse.
I teach my children years later,
Cruelty to others has no excuse.

Climb bravely to your feet,
Present the other cheek.
A craven dragon will know defeat,
An abuser, the one who's weak.

WOW Poetess Darkly!!! ~ this is a serious look inside the workings of abuse........"DRAGON" .........perfect vehicle for conveying the darkness of your subject matter.............VERY well conceived...........with excellent rhythm and timing here.............some of the phrasing is so powerful that it seriously pulls at your readers heartstrings................highly compelling................extremely creative............I haven't read most of your stuff (my loss)............but if it's half as good as this...........I'd say you've got something very special in this gift of yours...............well done my friend...............Β Β Β  5*sΒ Β Β Β  FAVΒ Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  ......Loved this!!..............smiles..........T xo
